The Church:
Cross Free Church is a Registered Charity: SC038131
The church building was constructed in 1892. It is one of the largest churches in the Western Isles, able to seat 1400 people in comfort, although in 1968 it was reported to have held 2000 people at an induction. Built by the contractor James Macrae from Stornoway, the church was constructed from rock quarried from Druim a’Fhraoich, North Dell in Ness, and is so large that it can contain Back Free Church within its walls.
